Chemical industry
|
|
| A booming, dynamic sector with over 2,000 employees!
|
Although the chemical industry is younger than the département's textile industry, it is no less representative of our economy, with the establishment of leading companies, often belonging to major national or foreign groups.
The chemical industry contributes to our economy, as shown by the establishment of:
- ROHM AND HAAS FRANCE a producer of ion exchange resins. This is the world's largest site! (330 employees).
- ARKEMA (88 employees).
- SICA, a specialist in antimony oxide (62 employees).
Southern Aisne is home to WOELLNER SARL, based in Nogent l’Artaud, specialising in sodium silicates and metasilicates (80 people) and the InVIVO group situated in Chierry, represented by INZO° (animal nutrition) and NOE (animal health).
The German company BAYER is also present in the département (Marle), employing 220 workers in a packaging and production centre for agricultural pesticides and herbicides.
TERGAL FIBRES also operates in a branch of the chemical industry. Based in Gauchy, near Saint-Quentin, the company has two business activities: manufacturing polyester fibre (its original activity) and PET resins for bottling companies.
Perfumes and cosmetics
|
|
| The Aisne contributes to the Picardy region's image as the leading perfume producer!
|
The cosmetics industry is active in the Saint-Quentin area with two companies belonging to the L'Oréal group:
FAPAGAU, a manufacturing site belonging to the group's "luxury products" division, which provides the global production of "alcohol-based products" for brands such as Armani, Cacharel, Lancôme, Biotherm, etc.
SOPROCOS, specialising in cosmetics (mousses, shampoos, etc.). The LVMH group is also represented in Thiérache by GIVENCHY, based in Vervins.
