The Picardy and Champagne-Ardenne bi-regional cluster,  supported by the  Europol’Agro association whose head office is situated  in the Aisne  Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Laon. Designated an internationally  oriented competitive cluster by the CIADT (French  Interministerial  Committee for Regional Planning and Development) on July 12th 2005.

Ambitions

  • Become European leader for innovation in this field by 2015
  • Become a major player in the transition from a fossil resource-based economy to an agri-resource-based economy
  • Provide France with a centre for the promotion of knowledge,  initiatives and innovations, bringing us directly in line with  international competition
  • Capture a large proportion of the jobs that are expected to be  created in these new industries and promote the development of rural  areas.

Partners

  • A potential of 800 researchers
  • A potential of 219 companies and 26,000 jobs
  • An exceptional agricultural potential (sugar beet, alfalfa, barley, common wheat, rape, sunflower, etc.)

In  order to identify which business sectors to promote and discover the  best initiatives for supporting new activities, the Aisne Chamber of  Commerce and Industry asked the ADIT to carry out a study aimed at  defining an action plan for the development of priority areas and  development centres.

As part of a regional intelligence strategy, this project  focuses on the identification of key technological sectors and the  deployment of specific actions to support the creation of businesses.

Carried out on the basis of the economic realities of our département  and region, this study has enabled us to classify economic activities  according to their development potential and strategic interest.

Topics include:

  • The recycling and reuse of specific materials
  • New materials
  • Environmental management
  • Exploiting the natural environment and agricultural land
