The evolution of the accommodation base between 2000 and 2007 shows that radical changes have taken place:
- A projected increase of 43.3% in the
accommodation base in line with the guidelines of
the Schéma Départemental du Tourisme.
- Adaptation of the accommodation base to meet the constraints in the Aisne and in target markets:
- A very sharp decline in traditional camping capacity: 47% of the accommodation capacity
in 2000, 42.7% in 2005 and 27.9% in 2005!
- Conversion of traditional
campsites and the creation of outdoor accommodation facilities mostly for rent:
7.7% of total accommodation in 2000, 15.2% in 2005 and 19.3% by the end of 2007.
- Emergence of new types of
commercial accommodation: holiday residences, furnished apartments bearing
the Clévacances label, and parcs résidentiels de loisirs
(holiday parks with bungalows/chalets for rent), etc.
- A sharp decline in collective holiday accommodation, particularly facilities for young people and children.
By the end of 2007, in addition to the
significant expected increase, the commercial accommodation base will be
mainly rental-based (market share estimated at 44% compared with 12.5% in 2000): almost a five-fold increase in 7
years!
Four sectors should dominate almost 82%
of the accommodation market in practically equal shares: listed hotels, holiday residences
(Center Parcs), outdoor accommodation facilities for rent and traditional campsites.
